Israeli buses are quite comfortable when there are fewer than six passengers;
otherwise, people begin to act in ways which may seem strange to an outsider.
For example, when an elderly lady gets on a full bus, young passengers will
not endanger her life by offering her their seats, which are made of a plastic
so slippery that an old person might easily slide off at the first sudden stop.
In some cases, considerate passengers will even put bulging shopping bags
on the seats beside them, thus protecting standing passengers from the
temptation to sit down.

It helps to carry small change with you. If you don't have any when you get on a
bus, you certainly will have plenty when you get off. And how comfortable you
will feel on the bus depends to a great extent on the mood of the driver when
you get on. If somebody is stupid enough to get his arm or leg caught when the
driver shouts, "Watch out for the door!", he can't be blamed afterwards for getting
angry. Of course, bus drivers have some knowledge of first aid, but don't make
the driver so angry that he has to use it.

To sum up
