We Should All Grow Fat and Be Happy
I
What a miserable lot dieters are. You can always recognise them from
the sour expression on their faces. They spend most of their time turning
their noses up at food. They make do with water biscuits and unsweetened
lemon juice instead of the mouth-watering foods their friends consume,
while the really well-to-do pay astronomic sums for 'health-cures'. For two
weeks they can enter a 'nature clinic' and be starved to death while
paying a fortune.

In their battle against double chins, protruding stomachs and spreading
hips they do without all the food they crave and that's where the rub is:
they have set out to do the impossible and are doomed to failure:
one day they break down and devour a king-size cone of ice-cream
topped with chocolate syrup and nuts. One day all the dieters in the world
will wake up to their folly and hold out their plates for second helpings!
